Dominican Republic

DR094DR039 - Copy

We have just left a secluded anchorage on the west coast of Dominican Republic. A jagged limestone shoreline peppered with caves and dripping with rainforest. Reminiscent of Halong Bay. In one cave Lucy was attacked by bats but didn’t get bitten. And yesterday we motored 2 miles up a brooding mangrove river. Filtered light in a tunnel of foliage. Egrets, herons and bitterns fled in alarm at our approach. All very lovely.

Today we are motoring (yet again) round from Samana to the north coast of DR. We should be in Luperon in 2 days, where we will wait for Jen and Rita. Then on to Haiti where we will eject Lucy before setting sail for Cuba.
