Friendly, quaint Wales – home to Dylan Thomas, muddy old Land Rovers, emerald green fields, castles, obesity, walking sticks, wind, rain and dogs.

But St Davids is a lovely cathedral. And at last today it is sunny. We drift along leafy back roads, visit pubs in quaint villages, Norman churches with tilted headstones in overgrown cemeteries, stay at snug B&Bs.

110 miles to the corner at Lands End.

Hey John, great to see you back sailing again. I thought the rule was 1ft for each year over 20. Fair winds mate.

Phil, good to hear from you. We’re in Falmouth for repairs after tedious trip down from Scotland we’ve had – grey, wet, fresh headwinds. Oh for the S Pacific.

See you in Sydney in early November, eh?
