…both the season and the boat.
All the work is done. Tainui has been very professionally shrink wrapped. She has a dehumidifier and a 240 volt fan which will run continuously, and the yard will check the boat inside and out weekly.
The season is changing, with light rain and purple thunder clouds coming in from the north. Sitting on the hotel balcony reading Helen Garner, I feel dislocated, caught between two tectonic plates. No longer part of the boat but not yet ashore. It is always like this.
So it goes.
