Thank heavens it’s Friday

Friday was one of those boat days when things went smoothly. How such days stand out.

To be honest, I didn’t think it would all happen. When I arrived back in Panama the boat sat lonely in a shed, mastless and in chaotic disarray. But yesterday she launched smoothly. After 5 months the engine started faultlessly, my tight righthand turn into the marina slip was faultless, the Panama Canal measurer came to the boat to complete canal formalities, our canal agent found Tainui a slot for transit on Monday and the rigger turned up to fine tune the stays and shroud tensions.

Then to cap it all off, with her uncanny sense of timing Miss Perfect breezed into the marina bar at happy hour demanding a sauvignon blanc. I was happy, and happy to oblige.
