When a boat is 40 years old you don’t buy her, you assume temporary custodianship. Overwhelmed with culture shock on arrival in Belfast, to my shame I neglected to mention the warmth and generosity with which her previous owners eased the handover, both for me and for Blue Dove. Conor Haslett went to beyond the call of duty to prepare his boat, launch her and bring her up from the yacht club to Belfast City Marina with me. Not an easy time for him, I know. His assistance was much appreciated.
